Consider these questions to help you understand what work worth doing would look like for you.

 

1. Finding your core

 

  • What motivates you?
  • What matters most to you?
  • For what do you want to be remembered?

Knowing who you are at your core will help you find meaning in the work that you’re doing right now.

 

2. Forming the connection

 

  • How can you connect what you do each day to what is most important to you?
  • In what ways can you find how your work can fulfill your core motivations?
  • What outcomes could your work produce that would give your work deep personal meaning?

Making the connection between what you love and what you do will help you become more excited about work each day.

 

3. Fashioning your course

 

  • How can you stay focused when work becomes a chore?
  • What can you do to keep yourself motivated by what matters most to you?
  • In what ways can you remind yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing?

Keeping your thoughts on course will help you stay excited even when work becomes drudgery.

If you can discern what fulfills you—and remind yourself why you do what you do—then you can daily experience work worth doing.
