You have the power to do much good with your business. Not just to create wealth. But to impact lives for God’s Kingdom. All you need is a ministry vision.
Think of your business as an instrument in God’s hand to draw people to Himself. When you have that perspective, you align your thinking with God’s thinking. And God is pleased to use your business for His glory.
Here is the four-step process of transforming your company by cultivating a ministry vision.
1. A ministry vision will change you.
When you decide you want to use your company to minister to others, it will change how you view other people. And it will change how you view your role in the company.
As Chief Executive Officer, you are also Chief Ministry Officer. You serve as the role model for ministry in your organization. You set the tone for everyone else to follow in your company.
2. A ministry vision will change your team.
When you demonstrate your ministry vision through active leadership, your team will see it. Because they won’t be able to miss it.
- Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30), and
- Love your employees, suppliers, and investors as you love yourself (Mark 12:31)
then you will have a captive audience. When you say it and live it, then your team will want to follow you. If you repent when you blow it, then they will follow you anywhere.
3. A ministry vision will change your customers.
When you live out your ministry vision with your team, your customers will notice the difference. Your team will be transformed, and so will your customers.
Your team will
- Believe more in your company
- Go the extra mile for others
- Have more joy in their work
because you are willing to show them that you love them.
You will create this workplace culture by loving your team. When you love them, then you will remove fear from your culture. Because biblical agapao love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). And your customers won’t be able to miss it.
4. A ministry vision will change your community.
Your community will notice how you treat your employees, your suppliers, your investors, and your customers. When you intentionally and consistently love your neighbor, your community will notice.
Jesus said that all people will know that you are His disciples if you have love for one another (John 13:35). If we take our Sunday faith and apply it to our Monday through Friday lives, then we will transform our lives, our workplace, and our community.
And it all starts with making the decision to have a ministry vision for your company.
