God wants to be a part of everything you do—even your work. Because your business is God’s business. And you can honor God with your business.
Your business is a tool to make money. But it can be so much more than that. Your business can be an agent of transformation.
Here are five ways you can honor God with your business—and transform your business in the process.
1. Building up your team
You can honor God with your business by how you treat your team. Many businesses do not treat their employees well. You can have a positive impact on your team by the culture you cultivate at your business.
You can build up your team by building morale at your workplace. If you create a culture that demonstrates how much you love and care for your team, they will be more loyal to you and serve your customers better.
2. Serving your customers
When you focus on serving your customers with an ownership mentality, then they will know that you care about them. When you take on their challenges as your own, then they will want to keep bringing their business back to you.
By serving your customers the way you would want to be served, then you will secure their loyalty and gain more business.
3. Paying your suppliers
When you pay your suppliers—on time—you are treating them as you would want to be treated. A laborer deserves his wages (Luke 10:7; 1 Timothy 5:18).
They will remember how you treat them when you pay them what they are due. And if you need a favor, they will be more likely to grant it to you if you have paid them promptly in the past.
4. Involving your investors
Keeping your investors informed about how things are going will put you in good stead with them. Be quick to share information with them, so they know where things stand.
When you are open and honest with your investors, they will be more likely to give you the benefit of the doubt if hard times come. And they will be more likely to stay with you.
5. Pointing people to God
By treating everyone in your circle of influence the way you would want to be treated, you are observing the Golden Rule. Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount to do to others as you wish they would do to you (Luke 6:31).
When you honor others as you would want them to honor you, you are able to honor God with your business.
