How God Works Through Little Victories

Sep 14, 2017

God wants to transform you into His image. He wants to help you change from one level of glory to another (2 Corinthians 3:18). And He wants your little victories to become big victories.

Little Victories

The process of sanctification will take time. It will take effort on your part. And it will require your active obedience.

Here’s how obedience to God brings about sanctification—through little victories.

1. Obedience leads to victories

When you choose to obey God, you gain little victories in life over the things that drag you down.

Obedience enables you to find the escape hatch from temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13). And obedience enables you to get rid of the stuff that weighs you down and to run the race with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1).

By choosing to obey, you get rid of the stuff that prevents you from being who you are. You become more of the person who God wants you to be. And you become more self-actualized in the process of obeying. And you become capable of achieving big victories.

2. Obedience leads to understanding

You won’t always understand why God has you do things. But when you obey God before you understand why, it leads to understanding His ways. When you are willing to step out and do what He says before you have all the answers, you will gain a better picture of who God is.

When God tells you to do something, you benefit when you respond quickly in obedience. In time, you may get to the point where you can see why it was important to obey right then. Instead of asking God “Why?” at the beginning, you may get to say “Oh that’s why” at the end.

3. Obedience leads to trust

Jesus said, If you love me, you will obey my commands (John 14:15). When you love God and obey His commands, it will deepen your trust in Him.

God wants to stretch you to become who He wants you to be. Since He knows you better than you know yourself, your obedience will help you see that you can trust what He wants for you. And it all starts with being obedient with little things, so you can have little victories—that lead to big victories.

God wants to stretch you to become who He wants you to be.
