Your thoughts directs your life. And whatever your mind believes will impact what you say and do. Whatever goes on inside your head will eventually work itself out.
Whatever you believe about yourself will ultimately manifest through your words and actions. Jesus said that everything you say and do originates in what you believe in your heart (Luke 6:45; Mark 7:15-23).
Here are three questions to consider so you can be aware of what goes on inside your head.
1. Where does your mind go?
Are you aware of where your mind wanders? What do you think about when you don’t realize you’re thinking about anything? It’s important to recognize where your mind gravitates to. Because it may not be what you want to be thinking about.
The enemy of your soul plants thoughts in your head to think things that you wouldn’t want to think on your own. As a result, you may find yourself dwelling on thoughts and ideas that you would be surprised that you entertain in your mind. It’s good to be mindful of what your mind’s full of. After all, it’s your mind. So take every thought captive and compare it to what you say you believe in Scripture (2 Corinthians 10:5).
2. What surprises you that comes out of your mouth?
Have you ever been shocked by something you said? Did you ever wonder where that came from? It came from something your mind was already dwelling on that you weren’t aware of.
Be aware of those times that you say things that you didn’t mean to say. The thoughts had been there—planted by the enemy of your soul—but they just needed an opportunity to come out. And they often tend to come out at exactly the wrong time. So be conscious of what your thoughts are—before they surprise you.
3. What do you do that surprises you?
Have you ever been startled by something that you did? Did you ever wonder why you did it? Your mind had already thought about doing it—even if you weren’t aware of it.
Be conscious of what you do that you didn’t mean to do. The battle for your life goes on inside your head. The enemy of your soul wants to get you thinking thoughts that you didn’t want to think, so you will say things that you didn’t want to say and do things that you didn’t want to do.
